France Develops National Environmental Policy

An about-to-be adopted French law called "National Engagement for the Environment," will begin working on developing sustainable production and consumption, protecting biodiversity, reducing environmental harm to human health, etc. The bill, which includes 104 specific measures, reflects Pres. Sarkozy's stated goal of creating a "green revolution" in France. France's Environment Round Table began national dialogues by bringing together the State, unions, employers, NGOs and local authorities for discussions in 2007. RRI is monitoring progress toward a true Green Plan from this national environmental beginning. The link, with translations, is at: http://www.legrenelle-environnement.fr/grenelle-environnement/
