We are nonprofit and nonpartisan. An old-fashioned conservation ethic permeates our work as we embrace technology and new ideas. Unlike many organizations, we take on conflict when it’s justified.
Resource Renewal Institute is small and agile by design. We accept that innovation often entails uncertainty. We are comfortable taking positions and risks that larger and more staid organizations are not. Supported by a deep professional network, decades of real world experience, and innovative collaborations, Resource Renewal Institute works to advance environmental leadership and inventive land and water management.
With support from bold, private funders, Resource Renewal Institute has successfully nurtured and fledged new programs, strategies, and leaders that have become catalysts for change.
For six decades Huey Johnson was a steadfast force for nature, protecting wild rivers, securing millions of acres of public land, and pioneering long-term natural resource planning and sustainability policies around the world. Huey continued to pursue the work he loved up until he passed away on July 12, 2020, at the age of 87.
We would like to invite members of Huey’s vast network of friends and colleagues to read the many stories about Huey and share your own here on RRI’s “Remembrance” page.
