It was the early 1960s, in Boise, ID, where I was stationed as a US Army Recruiter, that I met Huey who was teaching junior high school kids more than their curriculum! We shared our enchantment with Mother Nature’s endowments in that region, became fast friends, adored Basque beauties, grateful subsistence hunters/fishers and fierce cribbage opponents. Huey was so marvelous a net-worker and my terrific evening enjoying the company of Jerry Brown would never have happened had not Huey stirred the pot and witnessed the action! I miss him!
