Jodie Evans July 23, 2020 at 1:03 pm I remember the day Jerry popped the Question, well if you have all the answers (or some such quip) come by my Secretary for Resources. LOL! I tell it often, bring the change agent inside, they can do more. There are so many favorite Huey moments and they all bring tears to my eyes. Huey was serious and fun. He was passionate and could listen to others. He knew what he was about and nothing changed that, he showed up in the room with his values and would fight for them, and the next day be having drinks and laughing with you. The night of the med-fly debate, Huey on one phone and Rich Rominger on the other; Huey won. Jerry said no. The next morning in the very wee hours Reagan called Jerry and it all changed back, i think he threatened to not send CA any money. Huey knew he had fought hard and that was the best he could do. I was constantly learning from Huey, and he would take the time to teach, without judgment and with humor so you could really learn. No mincing of words. Best were the days of early mornings getting what was needed to fish and going out under the bridge. priceless those days, the conversations, all i learned on those mornings serve me daily in the struggle to end the war economy and cultivate a peace economy. The best thing, the thing i think that saves me daily is to have a North Star and let it guide you every day. You will learn more, be more useful to all and have a much better life. Thank you for all the wilderness you protected and for using your wild and precious life to save the planet for all of us. Love you Huey, thanks for everything!!!
