Give Through Your IRA

A Tax-Smart Way to Protect What Matters Most

If you’re 70½ or older, giving through your IRA is a powerful and efficient way to support our work to restore ecosystems, safeguard biodiversity, and advance environmental justice, while reducing your taxable income.

This option—called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or IRA Charitable Rollover—lets you transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to RRI tax-free. It’s a simple way to make an immediate impact while meeting your required minimum distribution (RMD).

Why Give From Your IRA?

  • Immediate Impact: Your gift directly supports trailblazing environmental advocacy and restoration projects.

  • Tax Savings: QCDs are excluded from taxable income, even if you don’t itemize deductions.

  • Meet Your RMD: For those age 73 or older, a QCD can satisfy all or part of your required distribution.

  • No Income Limits: QCDs can reduce your overall income, which may lower your Medicare premiums and reduce taxes on Social Security benefits.

How It Works

  1. You must be 70½ or older.

  2. Ask your IRA administrator to transfer funds directly to Resource Renewal Institute. (Transfers must go directly to RRI to be tax-free.)

  3. Give up to $100,000 per year (married couples may be able to give up to $200,000 if both spouses qualify).

  4. Notify us of your gift so we can properly acknowledge your generosity.
